In the mist of many trials in my past, or even in the mist of my stupid choices that I have made. There is a battle that seems to run its full course. No matter where I turn or which direction I seem to try to go, it seems as though I find myself hitting a brick wall. Sometimes there are people there to tell me, “You messed up and you should no longer be allowed to do this or do that.” That brick wall might even me people that you thought were your friend or your family but yet it seems as though they turned their back on you. As if to say that they are better than you.
Then there is the battle that I constantly fighting. The one that feels as though all hell has broken loose in my mind. I try to have a great positive attitude, but I am reminded of my failures. Either by where I am currently at, the struggle that I am in because I have to pick up the pieces of my life. Or someone else that was close to me somehow reminds me of how selfish that I was.
Having to find myself all over again as it seems and having a hard time walking the walk of faith because of the rejection that I feel. And it might not even be because of what someone else says or have done, but because of the rejection that I feel in my mind. Why? Because I want to reject myself. Why was I so stupid to have done that? What was I thinking? Where did I really want to go with my life?
Then I am reminded of this scripture.
1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Many of us have heard someone teach on this scripture or read it. Many times we skip over somethings that we do not completely understand. And we seem to just push it to the side. But if you really take a look at what it says. “Gird up the loins of your mind . . .”
Loins in the scripture refers to the reproductive organs of your body. As stated in these scriptures.
Genesis 35:11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
Genesis 46:26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;
When studying about the phrase “gird your loins”, I begin to search Jewish traditions and found that they wore robes. And those robes restricted a man or woman from doing hard manual labour or going into battle to fight. So they would take their robes and tie them up in a way that allows their legs to have the freedom to do the labour or fight in a battle.
So the thought of “Girding the loins of your mind” seems a little crazy unless we look at it a little closer. When we realize that the loins of our mind is our reproductive organ of our mind. Our imagination. Sometimes we have to attack the very thoughts that seem to consume us. Going into battle with those thoughts that try to destroy us. Then this scripture is brought to life with a greater understanding when we read this verse.
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
There are thoughts that come into our mind that stop us from being the man / woman of God that were are suppose to be. Our imagination takes over. What are people saying about me? What do they think? Why are they looking at me? I wish I knew what they were talking about! It is these thoughts and imagination that causes us to be in torment. And the thoughts that the enemy places in our mind does not help with that either. Many of us have not learned the voice of the enemy and so we think that it is our own thoughts.
So what I am trying to share with you today is this. . . .
YOU got this! God is on your side!
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. . .
When you search your heart, and give everything unto the Lord, repent of any wrong doings . The scripture states . . .
1 John 2:1 . . . And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, . . .
We have the ability to have a clean slate before the Lord. To make things right. So what I am saying is this . . .
Gird the loins of YOUR mind about with TRUTH! If it is not truth then push it out of your mind. Plant your feel on the solid word of God. Read the Word of God out loud because Faith comes by HEARING, and HEARING by the word of God!
God has your back!
You are a CHILD of the KING!
Jesus died for you so that you can be set free!
You GOT this!
