The definition of atmosphere is the envelope of gases surrounding the earth or another planet. On our planet called earth we have 21 percent Oxygen, 0.93 percent Argon, 0.04 percent Carbon dioxide. There are also trace amounts of neon, helium, methane, krypton and hydrogen, as well as water vapor. These gases are what make up the atmosphere that we have here and what we breathe.
Some have done studies and they say that the burning of fossil fuels is producing a worldwide increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, which transmits visible light but traps infrared radiation near the Earth’s surface. This so-called “greenhouse effect” will produce a global warming trend. So in other words, this is changing our atmosphere.
There is another definition of atmosphere that says, the pervading tone or mood of a place, situation, or work of art. And with this definition is what I want to focus on in this post.
I was visiting with a minister friend of mine here in Oklahoma City. As we ministers do, we begin to share things that God has been speaking to us about. Revelations of His word. Ideas of ministry and such. On this day, we met and was talking about these types of things. We spent some time in prayer and felt the presence of God. As time passed we realized it was lunch time, we thought we wanted to go grab something to eat giving us some more time talking before we go our separate ways for the rest of the day.
We walked into this Chinese restaurant that has a buffet and with it being in the middle of the week, during a lunch rush, this place was packed. It took us a little longer to find a parking spot. As we walked into the door something happened. EVERYONE stopped and looked at us. I am not talking about a few people. And I am not talking about that we made some BIG noise or even yelled our presence into this building. I mean the waiters and waitress stopped. The cooks that were refilling the buffet bars with food stopped. The people walking around the bars stopped. The people walking to their seats stopped. The people at the tables stopped. Everyone stopped talking and doing anything for it seemed as though it was 5 minutes and just looked at both of us.
Then as if nothing had happened, everyone begin to do what they were doing. It was the MOST awkward feeling that I have ever experienced. I looked at my fellow brother that was with me and asked, “Did you notice that?” He said, “How could I not?” WE got our food and sat down to eat our food. As we prayed over our food, I asked God, “What was all of that about?” And I heard the voice of God say, “The angels just announced you walked into the room.”
I almost could not eat as I shared with my brother what God just said. I was shaken. Who am I to have been acknowledged like that? I felt so unworthy. I felt as though I am no one. After lunch, I was spent for the rest of the day. I could not get that out of my mind. I could not seem to comprehend what took place.
I was driving down the road a few days later. I heard the voice of God speak and say, “Go inside that church.” It was a church that I have never been too. Never even noticed it before. It was a church inside of a shopping center. When I walked into the building, I heard a preacher preaching. I walked into the back of the church looking for a seat to sit down in (on the back pew). The preacher that was preaching stopped his message, pointed at me and said, “Look folks, God just sent a man of God in here. Welcome man of God!” Then he got back to his message.
When the service was over, he came up to me and said, “I know you are a man of God because when you walked inside the door and I saw you, something leaped inside of me like what happened with Elizabeth when Mary (the mother of Jesus walked in).
What I am saying in this post is . .
God wants to use you to minister to others and if you are praying and seeking God, then he will show others just who you are. Through that service, God opened the door for me to become friends with that pastor and we are talking about me coming there to minister. When you are walking with God, people will know it. There is an anointing and power that they can see. I am no one special. I am just a child of the King. I just want to be used by God. So if God can do this with me to open doors, then HE can do this same thing through you.
When you walk into the building where there are other people. God can use you to change the atmosphere and show them that you are walking with God. Every demon of hell has to come to attention knowing that you just walked in and you are in charge. Just like what happened with Jesus . . .
“Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.” Luke 4:34
