Changing of the Guard

In England at the Buckingham Palace is where The Queen’s Guard hands over responsibility for protecting the Buckingham Palace. This ceremony is called the Changing of the Guard. There are many people that would travel around the world to take pictures and see this sight. The ceremony is accompanied by music and last for approximately 45 minutes. A sight to be hold.

While reading up on this Changing of the Guards, I was reminded in the scripture..

“The guards were divided into groups, according to their family leaders, and they were assigned duties at the temple, just like the other Levites. Each group, no matter how large or small, was assigned a gate to guard, and they let the Lord show them what he wanted done.” 1 Chronicles 24:12-13

God instructed Moses to take guards and divide them to protect the temple.

“The guards were assigned the following work schedule: Each day six guards were on duty on the east side of the temple, four were on duty on the north side, and four were on duty on the south side. Two guards were stationed at each of the two storerooms, four were stationed along the road leading to the west courtyard, and two guards stayed in the court itself.” 1 Chronicles 24:16-18

Think about this.. so God instructed the Levites to take care of the temple duties, but there were guards to protect the temple. I think that this is just amazing to know that everyone of us has a place in the kingdom of God. Many security guards that walk around your church to protect your cars and the church are playing an important part in the kingdom of God. So that you can go and worship the King of kings.

Then I thought about how that we are to guard our hearts. Guard the word of God that is in our hearts so that we can be used of God when he speaks to us. We do not want to be like the sower that sowed the seed and the birds came and took the seed away. We want to guard what has been given unto us. Protect that seed. Protect that word. Protect our babies when they are born again. Protect what God has given to us.

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalms 119:11

What are you protecting?

Protecting your reputation? Or your Seed?

Guard your heart!

Put the word into your heart!!
