Don’t Touch the Tree!

Have you ever thought about the times you were growing up as a child. Your parents would say, “Don’t touch that stove!” And yet, you did not really know why they would say that to you. So being so curious, you went ahead and touched it anyhow. Which after the fact, you found out. Having been burned by that heat.

So many times through our life, we all could share stories of something that we were told not to touch. Yet we did it anyhow, in spite of what we were told. WHY did we do that? What were we thinking? I bet you are thinking of one right now.

Now that you are older and wiser, you understand why you should not touch that stove. So with that simple wisdom, why do we not follow God’s word? He gives us a pastor to help us. Direct us. And yet, we ignore the flags, the road blocks, the yelling and screaming, and all of the prayers that are lifted up for us.

I learned my lesson years ago. I can not fall into the same hole again. I can not fall into that same trap again. I can not walk that way any more. I can not step on that any more. I MUST have and build a relationship with God and my pastor / pastor’s wife. WHY? Because they are watching over our souls. Do we really want to ignore those that pray for us, care for us, and have already been there before us?

I can only imagine, Eve’s thoughts after everything. I should have NEVER touched that tree! Adam’s thoughts after, I should have NEVER ate that fruit.

God told Adam, “Do not eat of the tree.” Adam told Eve, “DO NOT TOUCH that tree!”
