In His Image

While reading the word of God, we find that in Genesis 1, God made man in His image and in His likeness. Many of us have never understood what that means. As I wanted to walk closer to God. Trying to build a better relationship with Him. Getting into prayer, I reached out with everything within side of me.

“God, I know I am human and a mess. I have sinned against you and others. I still make mistakes even though you have filled me with your Spirit. And I am clueless on how I am suppose to change my life to be what you have called me to be and what you want me to do. I want to be like you.”

Sitting in silence seemed like hours as I waited for the Lord to speak. With that small voice that speaks volumes of wisdom. This question came to me. What is my image that I created you in?

Not truly understanding what I was being asked, the scriptures begin to leap off of the pages as I studied and studied trying to find the answer. Having failed at finding the truth, He spoke to me and explained. “My “likeness” is love, peace, long suffering, patience, and etc. But my image is what I created you to be. What am I?”

Finding 2 scriptures opened my eyes to His image. . .

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

For you see, God is a Spirit and God is the Word. And we were created to be in His image. We have a spirit and we have the ability to speak death and life. God shared with me these truths, which forever changed me. And that is why I share them with you today. YOU are created in HIS image. YOU are a spiritual person. And you are full of WORDS. You were created to command things. You were given examples by Jesus and the Apostles on how to speak.

Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Acts 3:6

Step up to a mirror and look at yourself. What do you see? God sees a POWERFUL person that can Speak life into others.
