While growing up in the church, being a PK (Preachers Kid), there were many times I would get into trouble. I would totally disobey my parents. When my dad said, “Don’t run in the parking lot” at the church, I ran anyhow. When elders would tell me something, I would disregard what they stated because “they were NOT my dad”. I remember one time at camp meeting, I will not share which one but a friend and I took toilet paper and wrapped another kids bunk, while this kid was a sleep. The next morning, that kid woke up and could not get out of his bed the next morning. He had to have help from someone else to get him out of bed.
So through all of the mean things that I had done, it caused me to hate myself. I did not think that I was any body special. When it came to getting the Holy Ghost, It took me years and years before I really gave everything over to God. One of the things that I had to give up, was that hate for myself.
After receiving the Holy Ghost, God changed my life. Having been called into the ministry at a young age, I have been given the ability to pray with others, helping them to receive the Holy Ghost. Pray for others in the altar to receive healing. The lesson that I learned the most was not how to minister to others but how to really love myself.
For you see, learning to love myself is what made the difference in my life. The only way that I was able to love myself was to have a relationship with God. When I met God, who is love, He changed my life. As I saw that I loved God more, that I begin to love myself more. The more I loved myself, the more I was able to love others. Treat others with respect. Show others God in a more powerful way. When you treat others with respect, when you love others, regardless of what they say, or what they do, or what they speak against you. It is God that protects you and keeps you. It is YOUR heart that is the most important thing.
Is YOUR heart right before God?
Can you show love and respect to someone else even if they hurt you?
Can you show love even to your ex-spouse?
Can you follow God’s divine will?
“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matt 5:44
Think about it… why should I pray for those that hurt me? Because if you do not pray for God to have mercy on them, then the wrath of God will be poured out on them while God is protecting His children. They need someone to pray on their behalf as Jesus did while on the cross, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
