Low Fuel

My stepson recently purchased a car. The previous owner of the car told us that he filled up the gas for him. He currently is living at his mom’s apartment and a few weeks ago, on his way to work, his car just dies in the middle of the street in front of a red light. A place that is full of traffic at that time of the day.

So not really knowing what to do, he gets out and tries to push the car off of the road. A few other people see him doing this, and they stopped to help. So he gives me a call. “Dad, can you come and help me. I think that I ran out of gas.” I asked him this, have you put any gas in the car since you purchased the car?” And the reply was “No”.

He purchased the car, drove the car, and all the while did not realize that he needed to put gas into the car. So many of us at sometime, have been just like this. We go to church, thinking that it is the right thing to do. Not really into the Spirit. And then there is a blow out service. The POWER of God came down in that place. And guess what? We got blessed.

What about the sacrifice that was made for that blessing? Did we spend time in prayer? Did we read our Bible that week? Were we spending time with God? These questions are brought to our attention, because of what the scripture states . . . .

Matthew 25:2- 4 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

What did the foolish do?

Matthew 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

They asked those that had prepared for oil. So in other words, we have relied on others to help fill up our gas tank. Instead of filling up the tank ourselves with prayer, fasting, reading the word, and just spending time with Jesus. It is time that we stand on our own. Build your relationship with God. Do not wait for someone else to get your blessing. God says . . .

Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

WE all have the opportunity to get our lamps full . . . so what are you doing?
